Today the Color freqs listed under Zone 14 Talk-Around Talkgroups in Cville where in use


seemed like Ems chatter. what facility/people use these?

I'm pretty sure this channels deal with extra curricular activities like sporting events. Today I think there was the Foxfield races, so traffic cops and EMS I'm sure were using this TG. I know during Football season these TG's are active.

I forgot about the races. thats probably what it was, it was 95 degrees here today, so im sure there was alot of heat problems

I didn't listen this year but last fall they were using several of those talk groups at Foxfield. There was also the Dogwood Festival parade that same morning downtown.

Zone14

As a former volunteer firefighter for Charlottesville, I can tell you that Zone 14 was designed for interoperability in the event of a major disaster, or something where many different public safety agencies need to communicate together.

Zone 14 is primarily used for: Foxfield, Football Games, the Albemarle County Fair, and some of the local fund raising races in charlottesville. At least that's what my training taught me. Thought I'd chime in.

I've also noticed that when they dispatch fire on EMS calls now as soon as they mark on they will switch to EMS1. That seems to be working well for everybody. That's what they paid all that money to Motorola for!
