Hi.

When listening to various SDR provided air comms online and watching the New York Oceanic flight area I'm constantly hearing "ZZTP" mentioned as a checkpoint I think when they can switch to regular not HF frequencies.

Where is this ZZTOP and are they looking for some tush? 😉

And Pearl Jam is also mentioned. Why does Oceanic have this infatuation with rock and grunge? Is the airspace in Seattle called Nirvana or Mudhoney? Is YYZ gonna have a marker called Drake?

SFO has a SNTNA Departure (Santana) that has waypoints of GRTFL (Grateful) and DEDHD (Dead Head)

O'hare here in Chicago has an approach marker called "Seika" which is grounded "Seka." If you are an old dude like me, you may know the reference, lol.
For us local aircraft monitors, before they realigned O'hare's runways, a point prominent on approach plates was "Edgar." This point was actually named after my neighbors father who was a long time ATC for the area.

And don't forget BUFIT1 (some Caribbean airport, possibly Jamaica?) named for Jimmy Buffett. The man responsible for my having a taste for rum instead of scotch and for my being a happy drunk (except when tequila is involved. . .)
