Default The Latest G4/G5 Firmware and PPS

Just so everyone is aware the latest firmware and PPS is always available for free by simply sending an email to P25firmware@unication.com. I will post in this thread any time a new version is released.
The latest as of the date I am posting this is firmware ending in R11N2 using PPS V00-03-05_Beta01.

Thanks David! What changes are included in the PPS and FW updates?

Best,

Mike

I've stickied this thread.

Let's try and keep this thread reserved for new firmware and PPS announcements. Please start new threads for bugs and usability issues.

Thanks guys!

I got the new PPS installed no problem. Now how do I upgrade the firmware? I am not seeing the link to do that.

You have to send an email to the address David gave in post #3. You'll then get an auto-response with the links.

Turns out I didn't click through far enough on the firmware link. I got it now though. Thanks.

Good update here also. My recollection from previous FW updates left the Pager in a un-programmed state. Not this time. When it re-booted the programming was still there. Did I remember this correctly?
I went ahead and re-programmed with the new PPS. I'll be looking for improvements and or changes and post anything I find.

Thanks David.

So I just got a new screen/error. Using monitor mode. It says: System not working properly
Error code: # f f f f 2. Contact Unication for more information.

Dave, Any ideas?

It only occurs with Monitor Mode ON.

I've done I think 3 or 4 firmware updates, and don't recall ever having it delete the programming..

I just took mine back to R11N2 and it does delete the programming. Have to load from scratch. I was getting some strange audio randomly. TGs sound like an SSB signal slightly off frequency. I have never heard that before. That along with the Error Code # f f f f 2 when in Monitor Mode. I think I'll hold off for the PII update. I didn't see any changes except for a slight change to the button identifiers.

Maybe if you go backwards it deletes the firmware? That's the only thing I can think of, but every firmware I've done kept the programming. Hopefully David can chime in here.

A list of changes to the FW sure would be nice. It's like an experiment trying to find all the new stuff/differences.

The only difference I noticed was that it seemed easier to make menu changes on a busy system than before. The radio still interrupts if you're in a menu, but hitting the Back button seems to override that so you can continue to work in the menu even as audio is coming through. Perhaps that ability existed in the previous firmware? Or maybe that's an 'under the hood' type deal? I'm not curious enough to roll the radio back a version to find out.

Default Firmware Idea's/ Would Like To See

Is there anyway on the next G5 firmware you can enable scrolling text? In my scan list, it is a pain trying to abbreviate everything to fit. Also enable the phase 2 compatibility for the G5? I also would not complain for some more tones to be added. I just pushed this firmware and PPS thru without any issues. I know people were saying about loosing their programming but nothing like that happened on the G5. But these firmware idea's would be important for me and my department.

Thank You

Default The Latest G4/G5 Firmware And PPS

I just did a successful upgrade to R11P and PPS to V0.3.5 Beta07. I am thankful for the Unication G5, PPS, and updates. Happy Thanksgiving Day everybody!

Oh, and as an aside, I am also listening to a brand new Uniden BCD325P2. It is hard to listen to it when monitoring the Minnesota ARMER system compared to the Unication G5. The Unication simply has nice, clean, clear audio. The Uniden BCD325P2 often sounds garbled. To their credit, it is handy for sleuthing to have a Uniden. I can readily lock out talkgroups when in the TRUNK SEARCH mode.
