Default G4/G5 G4-G5 Charger Amp for programming

Is it possible to program the G4/G5 from the G4-G5 Charger Amp ? I see the it has a DB9 controller port and wonder if this can be used with some modification?

You'll like the base. The amplified speaker works well and I like how it automatically mutes the G5's internal speaker . Charging is now a breeze .
