If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Whenever I attempt to use my G5 in the charger amplifier, 9 times out of 10 I get a flashing "out of range" message. Strange thing about this is it only happens when the supplied antenna is hooked up to the back of the charging unit. Once I disconnect the antenna, it seems to function normally. My G4 doesn't have this issue. I double checked my programming, and everything is correct. Anyone else had similar experiences? Any ideas on how this can be corrected?

Thanks

I just got my charger amplifier for my G4 and noticed when I use the charger antenna with an 800 MHz antenna there are out of range issues but when I only use the radio's antenna everything is fine.

Wow W8RMH !!

I just posted this in a new thread.
Also get out of range issues....was thinking because I have not cropped the antenna yet in size for 800 Mhz. but your saying if you just take the antenna off the charger then all is well?

I believe the amp antenna connection is for VHF/UHF only. For 800 it uses the unit antenna. Connecting an 800 antenna to the amp unit did not work at all.

I also found a professionally tuned 800 MHz. Motorola antenna on eBay that greatly improved reception (+1 to +2 bars) on the radio itself, over the supplied antenna.
