• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Ours will display P25T when dispatch initiates a patch or multi-selects two (or more) talkgroups.

Select tab 2 Frequency & System Setting: Enter the conventional frequency you wish to use under the Conventional Frequency Setting tab

Select tab 3 Protocol Parameter Setting: Click new and select MDC 1200 then label it "MDC 1200" and save it.

Select tab 4 Group ID Setting: Click new then select from the MDC/UFC TGID column. Enter 65535 (FFFF) then give it a label under group alias. Make sure you set alert mode to tone and set alert tone to none. Then uncheck voice storage if you don't wish to record. Then save it.

Select tab 5 Zone & channel setting: Select a knob position you wish to use. Set receiving mode to monitor mode. Assign an alias to the knob position. Select the frequency you wish to use. Change protocol setting type from CSQ to MDC 1200. Set a squelch type CTCSS or CDCSS if there is one. Then scroll to the bottom. Then under Knob Talk Group List, select the MDC ID you created in tab 4 by clicking the box under enable. Then save it and and program it and you're done. Your G5 should be decoding MDC 1200 from every transmission that has it when that knob position is selected. Any transmission that doesn't have it will show CSQ.

Ah -ok - I had to read up on the term "MDC" ... so, based on the above post, if these digital bursts are sent as part of the transmission, it would seem the Unication will decode that burst.

I'd be interested in seeing a video of this in action if someone can do that.

Nope. It’s on the list of “requests” but not a priority.

It’s still a pager so as a pager most users aren’t worried about uid. I’m just glad it works as well as it does on the systems I monitor. I have around 170 TGs I don’t really want to program thousands of uid for all my TGs lol that would take days.

I’m sure if they included that option they would implement an import of a .csv file function just like every other manufacturer.
