I wonder where you get your information.

1) MPSCS does not authorize dealers, they authorize two-way radios allowed to access the system.

2) https://www.comsourcemi.com/public-safety/pagers.htm

3) Detroit is in MPSCS, but on a limited spur type of arrangement.

Prings is right on the money with the G4 performance and Ray's customer service. What a fantastic unit that is blowing away the more well-known players in the 'scanner market' quietly.

You mean this? https://www.michigan.gov/documents/1...20141226145527

That is for a fire department to join the system and activate a talkgroup on the trunk so that they can send pages out. It is not for a paging receiver.

Good grief. This is amazing misinformation in here.

I've bought a ton of Unications (G5 and G4) from Digicom in Troy and some more from Comsource in Plymouth. In my experience, most dealers don't keep cases of radios sitting around. They order them when they have an order. So if that's what you call 'out of stock'... Usually get them in 10 days to 2 weeks after they get my purchase order.

The $1500 is the MPSCS set-up fee for pagegroups. A pagegroup is just a talkgroup that is forced to particular towers, for the exclusive purposes of paging. Pagegroups do not require a radio to be affiliated with a site to be transmitted on it. Fee covers the background work they have to do with consoles, at the NCC and so on. They do not charge for the pagers. Pagers can be programmed by dealers, dispatch, or the department themselves. The state doesn't really care since it doesn't transmit. They were going to create the file and send it to the subscribers, but they decided its too much work and they're too busy.

I should specify- the 1500 is for each pagegroup. Not completely terrible if you consider the fee for the actual radios used to be up to 200/radio/year.
