• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a 7 port hub plugged into my Win10 laptop along with at least three other devices using additional ports directly on the laptop (4 USB ports in use on the laptop itself).

My G5 is plugged directly into the laptop.

I started up SDR# via the hub and a bit later tried to connect a TRX-1 to a directy USB port on the laptop so I could edit a configuration.

The TRX seemed to be having trouble connecting and giving me access to the SD card.

At some point I then noticed the my G5 was rebooting multiple times as well.

I have now disconnected the G5 and it stopped rebooting....

Just thought I'd pass that along.

Some sdrs do not like connecting via usb hubs. I have a very high quality 7 port usb 3.x hub self powered with a high end power supply and it hates all 3 of my usb sdrs. Had to plug it directly into a laptop usb port.

Maybe rapid cycling of the charge state causes the rebooting? I haven't used a Gx with a hub, but I've seen a similar problem when a Gx isn't seated properly in a drop-in charger. I also experienced same when charging with an Anker IQ 2 port charger which apparently cycles the power between the 2 ports. Anker claims it will provide 12 watts per port...but maybe they achieve that with rapid switching? IDK. Never had an issue using an Apple 12w single port charger or the OEM charger.

Has anyone checked to see if there might be COM PORT problems with multiple units attached?

I believe its recommended to use USB 2.0 hubs when using SDR dongles.
Recently went thru some of this with my boss who is messing with SDR dongles and he scrapped USB 3 in favor of USB 2 hubs. Has something to do with producing noise or something.
