I have finally made a mounting solution for my Ford Fusion. The components include the pro clip mount for the console, a standard stainless mic holder. I used foam grip tape to prevent the bottom of the scanner from sliding left and right. Tape found on amazon. I ran a bnc nmo antenna wire and I mounted the powered Uniden speaker , I believe the model number is BC40A ? It’s a very nice amplified speaker. Although this is the best set up I have come up with, it’s secure but I still am thinking of a better solution instead of using the button mount. I have seen the x-grip but not interested in waist of the money if it doesn’t work.

Looks nice! Get yourself a right angle adapter for the antenna coax on the SDS100 and it will look really clean.

Can you send me info on the pro clip item you bought, as I have the same car, auto transmission though, with the same need to mount the scanner to free my cupholder

Pro-Clip is great. For my 328i I use the dash mount and iPhone Xs holder... now also the RAM 1” ball mount with short extension to the RAM finger grip to hold the SDS100.

Anyone find an actual holster mount option from Pro-Clip to hold the SDS100? The RAM finger grip is fine, just looking for a more finished look. My button has been removed due to GPS mod. In talking with their sales-tech support, they stated if I provided dimensions that they may be able to find a comparable mount from their wide variety of handheld radio, POS, etc. stock.

Haven’t sent them the dimensions yet, as I’m still deciding to include the soft sided case in measurement. I’m thinking the smaller battery would be a better form fit, as well.

Regards,

cognetic.

Looks good.
Agree on the right angle adapter.
Wished Uniden switched to the BNC on the SDS.

Something to consider...
There are a few options including right angle SMA adapter and right angle SMA to BNC pigtails that are available via eBay.

I’ve had great experience with several related configs in marine and auto installs.... lately been using a glass mount dipole antenna with SMA to SMA right angle adapter such as pictured below.

My inquiry is with ProClip now.
Any thoughts on design or options for manufacture appreciated.

For reference...

The lower portion of the Uniden SDS100 is the area measured for holster designed to avoid contacting side buttons and USB feeds. Below are 2 separate measurements with calipers. As the bottom half tapers a bit and has a hard contoured grip cut-out on the side, the wider portions are used to compensate.

Without a soft case, these are the proposed holster dimensions:
Depth 40mm
Height 75mm
Width: 57mm (at bottom relative to holster) and 58.5mm (at top relative to holster portion just below obstruction of buttons & ports)

With a soft case:
Depth 42mm
Height 76mm
Width 59mm (holster bottom) and 61mm (holster top)

Assumption 1: Dimensions are with the smaller battery. The larger capacity battery for the SDS100, obviously, will impact the depth measurement; however, I do not have one to measure... yet. My guess is that it adds 10mm to depth (?). A holster to accommodate both batteries might work at 50-52mm depth.

Assumption 2:
In the above dimensions, there is no bottom border as the SDS100 will extend below the holster’s lowest point.

So I've been using proclip in my 2015 Fusion for several years now and mount my apx 7000. You just get the generic mount that can handle any belt clip on any radio. It also works with any disc like the SDS 100 has. Not sure what you listen to but get an HMO mount on your car so that you can use something like a Larson tri-band antenna. When I mounted the SDS 100 in the car I ended up taking it out as it doesn't work that well in a mobile application for my local Phase 2 700 megahertz simulcast system, yes yes with all of the updates and tweaks. It just misses too many Transmissions. I just use the Motorola. Also with using a amplified speaker it still doesn't have the volume I need in a mobile application. Proclip is however a great product.
