Just tried my Uniden BCD996P2 with the Uniden BCT15_UASD_v1.0.8.0 software and it works!

Running under Windows 10 with all current Windows updates.

Main purpose was to test the "Online Control" and glad to say it works and also able to view "extended online control"
logging with TGID's.

Not sure if this was know already, but good to know for others and myself.

The basic guts from 15 to 996 p2 are the same.

If you use Freescan you can load the same programming to them so all your quick keys remain same, etc.

Only difference is the 15 can't handle digital, but the 996T, 996xt and 996 p2 are identical in Freescan. And same files can be loaded to the 15x, sans digital systems.

396xt, 325 p2 also.

Remember that the UASD software was never updated to allow for the custom tables required for some rebanded (non-P25) systems, and that the BCT15 software would not allow for programming digital. FreeSCAN works on both scanners as Mark noted, and can be used to set up digital systems as well as rebanded ones.

Correct. I use Freescan to program...along with RadioReference.com to import frequencies.

But its nice to know that the old BCT15 software is able to have a relatively nice scanning display on your computer that looks like the 996P2/BCT15 radio.

That was my main reason in trying the software. The computer display of the radio is pretty good.

Also, this post might help others.

Freescan won't load all settings for 996p2 or 325p2, such as number tags or channel volume offset or alert light patterns.

Actually, FreeSCAN can do these programming functions. Just be sure to uncheck the box for 'Simple View' in order to see the rest of the programming options.

The exception being Butel's software. He has ARC-15 for the BCT15, and ARC-XT for the BCT15X, and the 996 series.
Because the author chose to create a special software version for each radio, does not make the radios different from a software perspective.

The fact that Freescan deals with them identically verifies that.

Files for the 996 p2 will load in a 996xt. The radio hardware can't handle receiving phase 2, but it will load the files.

Files for the 996 p2 will load in the 15x. The radio can't handle digital or p2, but the radio handles software in the same way.

Using Freescan, I load the same exact files into a 15x, 996T, 996xt, 996p2, 396xt, and 325p2.

The quick keys are identical through all of the radios that way for my benefit. I deactivate the digital or p2 systems keys on those radios that don't support those systems, but other than that I use the exact same set of data to load each of these radios, and it works just fine.

If you use the old 996 software BC996T-USAD it will also flash the display on your monitor if you have the backlight set that way.
Also works with the 352.

I'll give it a try once I find the download on the internet. I did a quick search and could not find it.
Uniden site is a dead link.....no surprise there!

Anyone have it or know where to find it?

Thanks.

That link doesn't work Paul, it gives an error:
500 - Internal server error.

There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

Link did not work for me either, but I found that I have the file saved in an archive folder.

That link works OK for me.

.
Could you get it to download?

The link gets me to the page, but when I click to download it, I get the same error Rich posted. You can click the Download on the landing page. That then takes you to the actual download page, where you have to agree to the terms by checking a box. Then, hit download on the second page, and the error Tesource not found comes up. I get the same errors using Firefox, Chrome, & IE.

OK, yes... the link given takes you to the Uniden site, but the download link on that page gives an error.
