Has anyone taken apart the ac adapter AD580U for the BC 780XLT if so what type of tool is use to remove what looks like some type of fastener. I need to repair the wall wart end. I have to bend the wire a certain way in order for the radio to work.

You can use any $10 adapter that output 11-15volts and minimum 800mA that have the very common connector size that Uniden uses and a lot of other stuff, except Whistler who have a more hard to find connector.

Or tape the cable to the adapter in a position where it will work.

Some of those adaptors are both glued and screwed.

Thanks for the info I didn't even think about it being glued.
