Buy a safe ...Put the radio in it!
You can Change the color for the key look in the colors
I think the OP was talking about locking the keypad. There isn't a way to lock the keypad on the SDS100. The BCD436HP does (the BCD536HP doesn't).
... which suggests that (like every other radio made in the last 10 years that was meant for a pocket) this feature was planned all along but somebody forgot something. I've given up trying to carry my SDS100 in my back pocket; every time I do, a key gets pressed and the radio stops doing what I want it to do.

Only on the left coast.
Why in the radio and shows the Key But you can’t lock it you can change the color that’s all you able to lock it like you could with the 436 have anybody contacted Uniden about that besides me and got no answers I would like to see that in a firmware upgrade

I like the design of the SDS 100 keypad. No lock is required because the keys are recessed and need a double press to select while scanning and screen is blank. Great design job Uniden.
Then if it does it need the key why does it show a picture in the radio That you can change the colors for the key If the key is not in there then that’s false advertisement
