Where is the comparison? I can agree with the RS800 chart on UHF and 700/800.

The stock antenna is baseline (i.e. all values normalized to 0). The graph shows the performance of the RS800 as compared to the stock antenna.

What brought this up ibhave always found the stock antenna to adequate on both the 325 and 436 line of scanners in fact I usually prefer the stock antenna. Only antenna I've seen work a little better than stock antenna across the board is the Watson 801.

The Diamond RH77CA is significantly better than stock on most bands.

Im a little confused. Does this not prove what most people have been saying and that is the RS/GRE 800 antenna is better on 700/800 MHz than the stock antennas? I did not see anyone claim that the RS/GRE antennas are better on VHF or 400 mhz.

Mike

It was part of a larger project I was working on (actually tested 6 antennas...published method and results at Measuring Relative Antenna Receive Performance – Massively Uninformed, which I linked to in an earlier post in the antennas forum...but I see a lot of "which antenna should I get" questions here, too).

Confused as well. I bought the RS 800mhz for ALL my portables. Does this graph show that the RS 800's are better than the stock? Everyone can LOL about this question...but I'm really not a radio tech so don't know what this is saying. THANKS. Greg

Where the line is > 0, the RS800 is better. The further above 0, the better. If the line is below 0, the RS800 is worse.

Thanks Upman. I assume that the numbers along the 0 line are the frequencies. I appreciate the reply..and the good info. Greg

Correct. From 20 - 1200 MHz. I tested at 5 MHz intervals.

I would like to see a similar comparison to the Diamond RH77CA.

Again, good stuff! Its nice to know that the money I handed over for these was not wasted. All the RS Stores around me are closing...they had one 800 MHz antenna on the shelf and I bought it. I don't need it...but I bought it. Thanks Upman! Greg
