working on Identifying some systems in the Memphis area tonight, so in the process of entering them into the 536HP i am noticing some anomalies, and i am hoping i am doing something incorrect.

in the video i have the system set up as follows in the 536HP

461.1 LCN 1
461.675 LCN 3
464.9125 LCN 5

these were verified with the analyzer as well, and as you can see DSD is tracking just fine

it seems if there is a rest channel the scanner will sit on it as it is supposed to, however
this is where it gets wonky

if a transmission occurs on the same channel as the rest channel, everything is fine
if the transmission occurs on another channel more than likely it will not pick up the transmission, if you sit on a particular talkgroup it does increase the odds of hearing a transmission but not always, id search is always iffy

am i missing something, this is the last firmware, good signal,but i am lost

Thanks in advance

Given the gaps in the LCN sequence, is it possible you're missing some frequencies?

Try adding the same frequencies again as LCN 2, 4 and 6.

Is this a guess or are you certain that this is how it should be entered? I only ask because I configured a CP system with 4 repeaters. I entered each repeater once in the 436 and it has never worked correctly.

Since I built the system, I am 100% certain on the frequencies and the order. Your suggestion makes a lot of sense. Repeater 1 is assigned 1-2, repeater 2 is 3-4, etc..... I never thought to try putting them in twice and many months ago I posted the question on the forum and no one came up with that.

Unfortunately I don't have my 436 with me today.

When entering the info in your scanner, use:

461.1 - LCN 1
461.675 - LCN 2
461.9125 - LCN 3

It should start tracking properly after that, if you've found all the frequencies!

That's your problem. The conversations should always start at the same frequency as the rest channel.
As soon as two simultanious conversations starts the rest channel jumps to another frequency.
If the scanner doesn't capture calls on other frequencies it means that the new frequency belongs to another site.

If you manage to find those other frequencies, or you already have them now but have put them all in the same site, you'll need to make a couple of new sites and put the frequencies there and start to do some detective work to put frequencies in the correct sites. The only tool that could help are dmrdecode by Ian Wraith. His program will often tell what site the frequency belong to and how many other sites there are in the system.

When you set up the system, their terminology for LCN is what I call "logical slot number." The scanner uses LCN, which would be LSN/2 (use the higher of the two slot numbers). Likely you are only tracking LCN1 traffic properly.

I get that but that is not actually the case,

there are LSN/LCN missing but these never show active, there are 2 different Providers here doing the same thing as this one

this system is maddening

In the above:
461.1 = LCN 1
461.675 = LCN 3
464.9125 = LCN 5

So, it does seem to be LCN'd correctly.

yes it is, and on DSD i am able to follow all transmissions with no issue, what is happening is the scanner seems to hang on the rest channel and is not getting the command to switch channel for a voice command

example

say the rest is on LCN 1/LSN 2 and a voice call comes over LCN 1/LSN 1 it may or may not move to that channel, this system also jumps rest channels constantly and you can see in the video the scanner finds the rest channel just fine, the scanner just seems to stay on the rest channel

I don't have any serious help to offer here but I am monitoring the thread to learn (as always). However, what did strike me as odd in the video was seeing the Rest indicator jumping all over the place with or without any activity at various times seemed odd to me. Does anyone else think that is normal?

there are more sites those 2 are in Shelby County, TN they just are not listed yet which i am trying to rectify :)

Ok...before you aggravate yourself, put the scanner in ID Search and hold on some of the other frequencies in the license. As you may or may not know, on Capacity Plus systems the scanner won't behave the same as a P25 system where all you need is a control channel. My suspicion is not all frequencies are programmed and the scanner "jumps" back to an active Capacity Plus rest channel because it can't find the conversation on the programmed frequencies?

here are the licences

right now i am only using FB6 and FB8, DSD is tracking ALL conversations and can follow the system fine,it looks like they have disabled LCN 2 and LCN 4 (LSN's 3-4 and 7-8)
again DSD is NOT missing anything, usually when you first start DSD it will identify all the slots before you even put frequencies into the list, it is not even offering that there are transmissions in those missing channels, so it looks like they are disabled or were never programmed, but i may be wrong, and this is not the only Provider that does this, there is a separate system here for Leading Edge Wireless that does the same thing

Ok, here's what I would do. I've had good luck with these Capacity Plus systems so here I go:

System 1: 451.9125 LCN-1 Color Code Search
452.3625 LCN-2 Color Code Search
464.9125 LCN-3 Color Code Search

System-2: 461.100 LCN-1 Color Code Search
461.675 LCN-2 Color Code Search
463.775 LCN-3 Color Code Search

I do not duplicate the frequencies, and when I program in the known talk groups, I select "Any" in TDMA Timeslot. This has worked well, and I listen to a busy Capacity Plus System, with 24 hour operations. I hold talk groups and conversations are followed.

Ok ill try that, one weird thing is 451.9125 appears to be a TIII control channel now, and some references to RAS Aloha, so i dont think its the same system now

Very possible the system is divided up too. Their really isn't no rhyme or reason to it, just trial and error. My suggestions are just a starting point, you might have to tweak it if you find other information out.
