BCD436HP/BCD536HP: Updating Database

Quick question. When I update the national database using Sentinel, is it necessary to then write the data to the scanner using the Write to Scanner, or does it upload to the scanner at the same time it downloads from the server.

I always write to the scanner, but was wondering if it was necessary.
