Do you need the race feature? Otherwise, for a few more bucks you can buy a 346XT which is a lot more scanner.

Well the Digital hand held scanners are to high for me
and there is race track in my area it says it also covers the 800mhz areas.
but it sounds like BC 346XT is more in $200 to $400 range it little too rich for my blood.
unless some one is willing to sell it for half the price.
but this one for $175.99 is in my price range

The 346XT is about $220.

While the SC230 covers 800 mHz, it doesn't do trunked systems. This is a significant limitation these days. You won't be able to listen to the Maricopa County trunked system, for example, that's described here:

Maricopa County Trunking System, Maricopa County, Arizona - Scanner Frequencies

The 346XT will allow you to listen to races, but it won't have the special features related to that use.

Well I can't afford the digital trunked hand held scanners
they want close to $500 for 1 it way out of my price range
unless there affordable one some where.
hmm You talk me into it
346XT is this very good scanner for that price
could I get the phoenix police and program national weather service same codes in to it?
I get it but I also listin Aircarft fire, police, and other bands

I'll add that I use two SC230's to feed RR. They have worked very well with no problems. No need for digital (yet ) up here in the North Sacramento Valley, Calif.
