Just a general question about the operation of the Home Patrol: If I set up my Home Patrol for my zip code, and select "railroads" as one of the services to scan, will it scan only the railroad frequencies that have been reported in my area, or will it scan all the railroad frequencies? I ask this because railroad frequency channel usage can span across many, many zip codes, even several counties and even states. And I know that my 996 and 396 can scan the entire VHF railroad band in a very short time.

I guess I could ask the same question for the VHF air band and VHF marine band.

TIA.

it depends on how accurate the database is in Your area, if it isn't and You know accurately what they are then you can submit them, but generally railroads are listed statewide

You should be able to check by looking at the individual freq.
I would assume that the database knows which rr serves your area... I would also think that nationwide those freqs are pretty universal
