How will narrow banding effect crystal controlled scanners? My daily listener for local UHF analog is a Electra Bearcat IV

My guess would be you'd still be able to hear traffic unless you have some UHF frequencies you listen to on a regular basis that are very close together. You should be OK.

Audio level will be reduced by about half. Signal strength will drop. Adjascent channel interference will increase.
Signal strength is gonna be the killer. these old scanners weren't very sensitive to start with, let alone 30 years later. They still sound the best and look the coolest though. Thanks everyone for the reply.
