I'm having an issue with my Uniden HomePatrol GPS cable on the male end. It will go in the port, but is very loose and falls out. It's a rather poor place to locate the port, the way it is now makes it easy to snag the cable as well.

Does anyone have any solutions for this?

Thanks!

The serial port on the side of the HP-1 is very prone to breaking off the board if the scanner is jostled or dropped with the serial cable plugged into it. There's not much real-estate on the board or side of the scanner for a standard 9-pin serial connector so the relatively fragile one we have is all we can hope for (unfortunately). I've had to repair mine once and I expect it may eventually have to go to Uniden for repair if it happens again.

Short of careful mounting and use I can't see any way to improve this connection that doesn't compromise the aesthetics of the HP-1. A short cable hanging out of the case with a DB-9 on it won't be too attractive...
