BCD-996XT record jack output line levels

I have a friend in Iowa who has a BCD-996XT and he hooked the green record jack of the 996xt into the sound card of his pc. The audio recorded but the line level was way too hot so the audio was distorted.

Does anyone know where we can find the technical info for the line level output of the record jack?

I have searched the so-called "user manual" that is online, as well as the programming software
ARC-PRO-XT and there is no reference to what the record jack line level output is.

Check the sound on the PC itself in the device settings for the sound card you should be able to adjust the levels in there.

I was trying to get speaker level outputs down to line level, and found that it's a common problem for folks adding amps to their automotive systems.Most of them only have speaker out. They make line level converters that are adjustable, so if your pc sound card software can't adjust look for converters via Google. Also check out my post on the sangean audio recorder.
