What programming cable for 396XT?

I am fed up with all things uniden, long story short, will a standard USB to mini-USB cable sold at Radio shack(for programming from computer)work or not? Thnaks.....

No, it won't. The socket on the scanner is not a mini-USB.

And you will need to use a serial port on the computer, not a USB.

Or a USB to serial adaptor from the computer.

The Uniden USB-1 cable has a USB to serial adaptor built in, and the Uniden connector on the scanner end.

I use this from radio shack with the proper cable to the scanner. Gigaware 6-ft. USB-A to Serial Cable : Gigaware Cables | RadioShack.com and it works very well.

bcd396xt go to e bay get the USB-1 to scanner it is about 30 bucks just got one it works perfect on win 7 programed the scanner last night it seam's to work better with free scanI I got it from (GRTLKS1)
