simple, free IRC client for #monitor?

Any suggestions for a simple, good, & free IRC client? I'd like to hit #monitor, and a few others for utility monitoring. I have no interest in IRC otherwise.

I downloaded mIRC, but it's not free & seems overkill for what I need.
