I stumbled upon what sounded like a regular old net at first on 3390KHz, but then realized that something was different. Call signs were mostly a number number letter letter combo (ex: 82RM). The woman calling the net had a call sign of NF82SS. She would say that callers should use their abbreviated call signs, which I'm assuming means leaving off the 1st two letters (like her call sign has). Between the odd call signs, and the out-of-band range of the net, I'm thinking this was a MARS group, or milcom, but am not sure.
More than once, she called an end to the net, but then would begin the net again. At one point they were trying to get what they were calling, beacons, to work properly.
I'm in western NC. Anyone have an idea what this could have been?
