I am receiving a strong but varying signal in strength of a positive P25 CC. I cannot locate the user in the RR trunked database section. I suspect I am hearing either a really good sustaining inversion from either NOVA/DC/MD or maybe Tidewater. My inversion reception typicall is north to south and not south to north. A DSD analysis shows two random alternating NACs of "4E1" and "6E1". with data only...no talk groups. This is consistent with a new trs system control channel being tested and not yet configured for talkgroup users.

Does anyone have any info on this potential new DOD trs user?

Ft. Lee DOD Trs Testing Diagnostics

Pro96com and DSD show the following:

Primary CC 386.1000 mhz.
Alternate CC 386.4000 mhz.
Sys ID 4E3
Bandwidth 12.5 khz.
Spacing 6.25 khz.
Site 101 (T0101)
WACN BEEDO
System Type +P25
NACs 4E1 and 6E1

See attached photos.

Ft. Lee's present 400 mhz. trs has limited interoperability with the Hopewell and Petersburg although I have not heard Petersburg on the Ft. Lee trs. Prince George Co. has comms with Ft. Lee for Fire/EMS mutual aid I believe via a radio provided to the county. It will be interesting to see what talkgroups and interoperability will be on the DOD trs. The 400 mhz. trs then eventually should be deactivated..

Ft. Lee DOD TRS Now Is Operational

The Ft. Lee DOD TRS now is operational. It and the current 400 mhz. trs are NOT being simulcasted. My first operational trs hit was today involving the FD doing a training exercise. The talk groups monitored so far are my best guess and need further monitoring confirmation or correction. I expect more talk groups to be added as there are quite a few on the 400 mhz. trs some new involving training.

The trs is a P25 standard with excellent audio. My guess is in 2013 there will be a migration of 400 mhz. talk group users to the DOD trs and the 400 mhz. trs will be deactivated. Current local interop with Hopewell and Petersburg will have to relocate to the 380 mhz. DOD trs.

With a good outside monitoring antenna (preferably mast mounted and preamped) the trs should have a 50+ mile monitoring radius of Petersburg. If you have DSD monitoring capability try that if your digital scanner does not have a strong enough input signal to decode the trs.

Pro96com analysis shows the following attributes on the Ft. Lee DOD trs:

System ID: 4E3

Site No.: 101 (Only one site)

Frequencies: 386.1000 mhz. Primary CC
386.4000 mhz. Alternate CC
386.7000 mhz. Voice
388.2750 mhz. Voice
388.5750 mhz. Voice

Talk Groups: 301 Security Dispatch
302 Security TAC
401 FD/EMS Dispatch/Ops ?
404 FD/EMS Training
405 FD/EMS TAC ?

Post any new talkgroups heard or change/confirm those listed so far.

Ft. Lee DOD trs--more

Security and FD/EMS are solely on this trs and no longer on the 400 mhz. trs. All other Ft. Lee radio users currently remain on the 400mhz. trs.

Security Dispatch is unencrypted but all mobiles are encrypted.

All FD/EMS comms monitored so far are unencrypted

TG 706

TG 706 = Possibly Facilities Maintenance drivers pushing snow.

Update: Not all 400 mhz. trs users have yet to relocate to the DOD system. Those remaining users appear to be involved with various training activities occurring/reoccurring on a random basis.
