Tornado passed just south of my house yesterday afternoon.
In Lynchburg City, damage was heaviest in the Timberlake Road area on the west side of town (actually in Campbell County), with several businesses being damaged. Storm broke-up, crossed the James River and reformed on the Amherst County (east) side of the James.
It touched-down again in the Elon Community (six miles north of the US-29/US-130 junction), destroying twenty homes and injuring six people. One person remains missing...
TIMBERLAKE ROAD:
VSP has a Command Post on Timberlake Road, with comms on STARS "APP TAC-1".
VSP also is running comms on APP-3, but unsure to exact location.
ELON COMMUNITY:
Amherst County on-site comms are on "Fire OPS-4" (CVRCS25 talkgroup 1104).
In addition to Amherst County units, VSP, VDoT, VA Forestry, US National Weather Service, and the news media from Lynchburg, Roanoke and Charlottesville.
