Okay I know there is no such thing as a stupid question but I have the next best thing. I have a tram 1410 discone that has long 32 inch radials. I only want to listen to 151 MHZ to ,161.000 MHz. If I trim those ,32 inch radials to about 20 inches would this help my signal just in the ,151 to 161MHZ freqs? I apologize but I could have answered this my self 50 years ago but I am in the early stages of dementia and I need someone to tell me if this will work so I don't ruin my antennas. I think is rough when you get my age so again I apologize I just can't remember anymore. Thank my friends.

Discone antennas are designed to be broadband. Altering the length of the radials will change the design parameters with unpredictable results. It will not achieve the effect you're looking for. I could give you a long discussion on how discones work, but the short answer is don't do it. Sorry to hear you're having issues and good luck with your monitoring.
