Try changing from 2.4Msps, to 1.024, and see if that clears it up any.

P.S. I understand that my request for a programmer and as a blasphemy ..

blasphemy is where someone does not care to read all avaliable information and asks questions

one of my posts has a link to a tutorial by rtl-sdr.com that shows how to install ubuntu and this software on a virtual machine under windows, look at that (not that i endorse this method, it won't give top performance, but you will get a taste of what this software does)

hi
I used the term blasphemy ironically not 'cause I had not read the tutorial ..
I said a real porting that could run on windows system on real not virtual machine that I realized the fact and indeed the performance is limited and does not do justice to your work

Everything works fine now on linuxmint 17 except this error in gnuradio:

(python2.7:2955): Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_widget_get_direction: assertion 'GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

i don't have this bug, but this is what i found on the internet:

this is a qt bug. if gnuradio-companion keeps running, then don't worry about it

if not, then run qtconfig and select gui style "cleanlooks"

any live tetra systems in the united states ?

Voice codec can be downloaded from ETSI and compiled for your own use, but there may be a problem if you want to distribute them in binary form. Any TETRA receiver software ready to use could put its author in serious legal trouble.

actually it would be interesting to know the status. the codec source has no licensing information, neither has the page that it can be downloaded from. ETSI has some IPR search form, which i wasn't able to use (probably too much stuff blocked on my browser, didn't really try much).

it would be interesting:

- if i can redistribute the source? (along with some install scripts that patch and compile it)

- if i can redistribute binaries? (if the project is non-commercial, and source is included) - probably not

any lawyers here?

btw mbelib also has a similar problem, and still people redistribute dsd and dsd+, and didn't have any problems (yet

in the tutorial here: RTL-SDR Tutorial: Listening to TETRA Radio Channels - rtl-sdr.com they use ubuntu 14.04 32-bit. 14.10 will most probably work too.

if you're using a 64-bit system, they you will have to compile the codecs for 32-bits. there is a description in the documentation, this is for debian but probably will be the very similar for ubuntu. basically if you know what you're doing you shouldn't have any problems

From what little I understand of ubuntu, if the make and failed means that the receiver has not been created right? how can I do to fix?
thanks

it's hard to tell, this script is used by a lot of people (not only for telive), and it usually works for them.
you can try to run verbose:
./build-gnuradio -o -v
and see what error you get.

there is a new telive version out, with slightly different colors for more redability, and a way to change verbosity (using v and V keys, less verbosity shows less logs in the status window), and showing text SDS directly in the status window (previously they were only in the logs)

also i have reports of a crash in sds decoding routines in tetra-rx (but only for some sds), this will be fixed once i nail it.

I can get the gnuradio radio going, but am I stuck on the part (Double click the variable labelled ppm and input your dongles particular PPM correction value) I have a NooElec R820T dongle! Do I not need drivers for this installed 1st? Have I missed something? All the software is installed with no errors... Running ubuntu 14.04 !

Installed everything as pair the tutorial... But when I run RTL_TEST I get his
sam@ubuntu:~$ rtl_test
Found 1 device(s):
0: Realtek, RTL2838UHIDIR, SN: 00000008

Using device 0: Generic RTL2832U OEM

Kernel driver is active, or device is claimed by second instance of librtlsdr.
In the first case, please either detach or blacklist the kernel module
(dvb_usb_rtl28xxu), or enable automatic detaching at compile time.

usb_claim_interface error -6
Failed to open rtlsdr device #0.

Any ideas?

Thanks
