How is your signal strength?
When I first started using DSD years ago I could not get a decent decode until I put up an outside antenna.
Where I am provoice is 860 mhz.

Realized after my post that UT V2 does not decode Provoice, just P25. Yor dongles ppm is set to zero. What dongle are you using? Have you tried AFT ? Auto fine tune on the voice vfo. Have to played with the virtual cable audio levels? I need mine to be around 4 just to get started.

Hi Dave3825,
I am using the rtl-sdr.com v3 R820T2 RTL2832 dongles. So when I have measured the PPM it should be zero.
I have played around with turning automatic fine-tune on and off but I haven’t noticed a real big difference either way right now I was testing it with off .
As far as virtual audio cable goes I have it set at about 50% volume and I’ve tried playing with anywhere between 30% and 60% and about 50 seems to do the best.
Right now where I have everything it seems to be the decoding the best i’ve been able to get it to tweaking everything but I still get a lot of errors in the DSD window and it’s still pretty garbled.
longer transmissions like 11 to 20 second transmission seem to do a lot better than short two to eight second Transmissions

if the quality of the signal is not good when it enters your antenna, all the adjustments will not give you a good voice decode.
Try listening to the voice traffic prior to decoding. Listen for fading, crackles or static and any other noice that can interfere with a good quality decode.
I have issues with a cellphone tower 1/4 mile away that interferes with signals along with local power line noise. There is not much you can do beyond yagis, low loss coax and better receivers (except to move).

Try eliminating some of the stuff along the way (UT and VAC). Use FMP24 and park on a voice channel and use that to pipe the audio over to DSD+ and see how the quality compares. If it's better, then you'll likely need to do some tweaking on the other setup. If it's the same or similar then you know you don't have an issue with UT etc.
