DSDplus fastlane - audio quality

Hey guys,
I'm listening to a Cap+ system that has all DMR but the audio playback keeps breaking up at times and sounds like a robot. Is there a way I can improve the playback quality?
The signal is very strong so it's not that.

Play with the input volume and centering of the signal. Also try a raw recording and run dsdtune on it.

Check CPU loading with Windows Task Manager. Is any process maxing out?

What are the system specs? Processor? Clock speed?

Provide a raw audio sample; then others can see where the problem is in the processing chain.

It's an older Windows 8 Samsung laptop that's now running Windows 10.
I believe it's an 3rd generation i5. Can't remember the specs but I'll look it up.
Also, might be CPU. I was running VNC on it to remotely see what's going on. That can make it stutter at times.

I've lowered the volume in FMP24 and the audio coming from DSDplus is a bit better. For DMR, it should be 12.5 or 7.6 kHz wide?

I always use 7.6; seems to work ok.
