I am new to the scanning world and would really appreciate some help on getting my scanner set up. I've tried reading the manual and it's just so confusing. Here is what I've done so far:

Signed up for the premium service of Radioreference.com
Downloaded the trial version of PSREdit500 to program the scanner. (I have Windows 7 FYI)
Downloaded the Trunked data from RadioReference.com through the GREdit500 software for Harvey County in Kansas (uses the KSICS - Kansas Statewide Interoperable Communication System, Which is Project 25, Phase 1). The software saved this as SCAN LIST 01.
Uploaded this to the WS1040.

Now I am not sure what to do next. I press SCAN on the receiver and it says "Nothing Enabled.......pri"
How do I scan the frequencies for Harvey county?

Thanks for your help!

when you have the unit turned on press 1 to turn on Scan list 1 and that should get you going.

That's the solution! I needed to create a Talkgroup. Didn't understand that. Thanks for your help!

If you have the same issue, did you read the whole thread?

Also this article from our wiki contains links to just about everything you need to get your radio going. There's even a link to the Easier to Read guide at...

Getting Started with your GRE/RS Object Oriented Scanner - The RadioReference Wiki

Note that your 1040 is really a PSR-500 in another box; so anything written for the 500 will apply to you as well
