I need help programing my new Whistler1040. I'm new to this method. Can someone direct me to a place, person or tutorial, where I can get assistance. I have joined RR, but have not purchased ARC500 or Win500 and don't which one is more user friendly.
Would appreciate any help.
Thanks

For me (Your experience may vary) I use all three (PSREdit500 as well as the two you mentioned) for mine. All have time limited demo versions. If you give me your location and email, I can create a file for you to download directly into your scanner to get you going. Be sure to include any preferences you may have as to what you want your scanner to hear.

Welcome to Radio Reference Charliesblue273!

You received a very generous offer from Redneck0410!

With regards to a tutorial, etc, the link below is a manual that far excels what may have been supplied with your scanner. Take the time to become acquainted with your new scanner, so you can take advantage of all of it's capabilities.

Any of the 3 available apps will get the job done, it's a matter of personal preference. Demo them and see which one you like best. I personally use Win500 because it was the easiest for me to learn to navigate but that doesn't make ARC500 or PSREdit any less capable.

Make sure you have good connectivity with your programming cable. If your computer doesn't see the scanner and connect to it, none of the apps are going to work for you.

+1 for Win500 and the free remote control/monitoring software Don offers.

I use it to program locally and remotely control/monitor as well, five days a week.

I have tested and use it with the following three models. It is noted to work with others as well.
- Radio Shack Pro-106
- GRE PSR-500
- Whistler WS1040
