I was going to use my Whistler WS1040 for some Pocsag decoding using the audio out into my computer. Before that I was doing a little bit of listening to our trunking system and updating some talk group id's with uni-trunker. With both the audio cable and usb cable connected I noticed a some what faint ticking noise in the back ground coming over the speakers. Evidently the data transfer over the usb was causing some kind of ticking noise. Its not audible without the audio cable being plugged into the computer, and I never noticed it on my laptop. It made a pretty good solid whine while up/downloading using Win500.
Ground loop perhaps? Cheap audio cable?
