That user has been blocked. I just haven't gotten all the files deleted yet.

Just curious, what kind of options/solutions are being considered?

Thanks,

I haven't heard from Lindsay for a few days about it, so I don't know what he's come up with.

It looks like a user attempted to upload a ".png" file, but linked to an external image instead of uploading. Is this the solution?

Please see File:Ws1080.png

Thanks,

Don't see how. Not without some more extensions and/or permisions anyway. Maybe not even then. External linking seems to be a poor solution at best anyway, not to mention, from what I gather, opens up other security concerns.

Anyway please delete that for me. I was just seeing what would happen. (unsatisfactorily) Unless you can show me how to make that show up here LOL
Whistler Scanners - The RadioReference Wiki

Honestly all those model images really need to be changed to the images from their respective Whistler product pages. The Whistler images are of MUCH higher quality.

Does the recent upload indicate that a solution has been found?

Thanks,

Yes. Lindsay found a way to impose certain restrictions on who can upload and who can't. If you have an established record as a Wiki editor and contributor, you can now upload files.

That's parallel to what we do in the forums, so this makes sense.

Time to put that into the User's Guide, Bob, so that when questions come up - and they will - about uploading, you can point everyone there

It is sickening how the spammers used to discretely pollute the WIKI pages. I just browsed over the recent upload and saw what crap was trying to infiltrate the resource.

I hope you WIKI admins can return to your curator status, rather than the janitorial work you have had to do recently.

Thanks for being vigil.

Thank you both very much for the prolonged effort and successful outcome.
