Default Oasis

When setting up oasis do you need to set the frequencies on 2 different banks or can you just put all the control channels into one

Yes, you will need 2 different banks (1 Waukesha and 1 Milwaukee) to monitor the system.

Is the APCO Band Plan adjusted? I am picking up the transmission, but it sounds crackled.

My scanner is a Uniden 396xt.

Thanks!

mkescan: Did you adjust the P25 LP Filter, Adjustment Mode, Adjust Level settings by chance? I pick up transmissions but they are garbled.

I didn't notice a difference, maybe I was doing it wrong. But noticed just playing with antenna, up down side to side made a big difference, for Waukesha County. Lock on Control Ch, or on a talkgroup you have programed, and watch the Signal bars while doing it.

I have a Radios Shack Pro106 that I have been using and it seems that South Milwaukee Police have made a change. I can no longer pick them up on my scanner. I know they were checking into a change after the problems the system had this summer. Do I need to reprogram??? Any help would be great.

I still pick up the other cities in the area...

Yep it is. Not sure how to program your scanner, guess just look for P25 Trunked Option

Might try this for programming and importing from Radio Reference

Win500: WS1040, WS1065, PSR-500, PSR-600, PRO-651, PRO-652, PRO-106, PRO-197, PSR-310, PSR-410 Scanner Software for Data Management, Monitoring, and Control

I have and used WIN500 for the programming, but I don't see any changes the frequencies for South Milwaukee. I am a rookie at this stuff, so I am not sure how to make some of these changes either. is there just a setting on the scanner to switch that channel to P25??

Yes, the PRO106 will work with OASIS. I would recommend reviewing the owners manual to set up. It's pretty much the same set up as the analog system; you only have to make sure that you set the trunk system to P25 rather than Motorola. You could theoretically change the existing Motorola system to OASIS by changing the setting from Motorola to P25 and to change the control channels that the scanner will monitor for activity; but it would be easier to just set up a new trunk system on your radio.

I think got it figured out last night, but I have a couple questions. When I went into the bank I had set up for South Milwaukee, only a couple of the frequencies on the list where attached to that bank, so enter the missing ones. Not sure if I should have done that?? And they went from 6 talk groups to one?? Does that make sense?? But I do hear them and the sounds is grabbled at times. Not sure if it is the system or is there some type of adjustment that I need to make on the scanner..

Thanks for the help...

Program in the main and alternate control channel frequencies for the Milwaukee County site. They are the ones in red or blue with an ‘a’ or ‘d’ next to the frequency.

As for the talk groups, several area members are working on figuring them out and confirm usage.

It appears if you take the old Motorola system talk groups and divide by 16, you SHOULD have the corresponding talk groups for the new digital OASIS system - at least for Milwaukee County this appears to be the case.

Hey guys I used to be into scanning a long time ago (20yrs) and am getting back into it. Wow have things changed. Ive been reading and sorting things out the best I can. My scanner arrives today (uniden bhp436) I wont have an issue programing it with my comp, at least I dont think so
I'm in Tosa & of course would like to listen to them. Doesnt seem to be an issue, Milwaukee police however seems to be digital if I read this correctly. Does this mean its a no go for scanning?
