• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

There are a few users in my area using DMR systems and I just bought a brand new MD-380

I did install the jailbroken firmware, but the one thing I found with it is it won't tell you what talk group is in use, or give you any information for scanning in the future. Because of this, and the fact that I use it for amateur radio I had to put the original firmware back on.

What is the easiest way to determine colour code to monitor or to talk to other Symplex DMR users?

It's best to use DSD+ or DMR Decode to get the information you need if it can't be found in a data base. Even if it is in the db it is best to verify it yourself.

I monitor quite a few DMR systems and many simply use color code 1.

It costs more, but that's what I love about the CSI CS-750. It will show the color code, TGID, RID, and slot number of any DMR user.

If it only worked while scanning it would be so much better.

Supposedly CS will have a multi-mode out with open firmware in the next year....supposedly.

I agree, even though you cant use the monitor mode while scanning you can easily figure out the info you need to add a new channel with that information or at least compile a list

Yes, it would. And if only the firmware writers would leave the scan flag set to the current state rather than revert when changing channels, that would be even better yet.

I'm expecting to see the CS7000 in prototype at Dayton.

If you happen to own a Uniden 436HP or 536HP scanner, Uniden recently announced a firmware-based DMR upgrade that appears to provide such information when monitoring a DMR frequency.

Good timing on the question eh? Whistler is releasing one too.
