I have an XTS5000, and I recently set up NAS. It doesn’t affiliate at all. However, I am having trouble hearing transmissions and the radio is missing them. I’m unsure what the issue is but I feel like I may have possibly messed up the band plan. Any tips to stop missing transmission? (Monitoring Starcom21)

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

ima ask the obvious.... encrypted? or is the channel you are monitoring mainly TDMA but goes to FDMA when theres a phase one radio on it.....

It can also be a DDM talk group- when an FDMA subscriber registers, you'll hear traffic. When it de-registers, the TG reverts to TDMA and your old radio sits silent. Depends on the system.

Unless the system information came from the system admin/owner, you don't really know. Crowd sourced information doesn't have access to the TG/MG profiles on the system side, only the ones who operate it can confirm how a given TG is configured.
Well, I really don’t think this is the issue, as I used to do conventional scanning, where you put all the site frequencies into a scan list, and I was able to hear the talk group every time. I did that until now, I’ve finally got my hands on what I needed to do “real” NAS.

Problem solved. Changed trunking system search time to 255 and digital modulator to CQPSK. However, encountering a new issue. When receiving specific talkgroups, Fail 001 will appear, but all other talkgroups and trunking systems work perfectly. Does this mean there is something wrong with tuning, programming error or simply p25 phase 2 in use?

It wont be long before that radio is useless as that area is going to be moving soon to all Phase II as the older XTS's are phased out

please tell me you arent sitting on a TG......
Fail 001 is the VCO going out if lock for the frequency it's trying to use. Either the receive or (yikes) transmit.
I have been perfectly with talk groups in Will county. This issue is fail 001 while trying to monitor Starcom in Dupage county. As far as I know I have set up the trunking system and scan the same way and I was asking for a solution or answer.
