Can anyone tell me what 149.4375Mhz is. I know that the EMS use this freq but I hear stuff all over (Southern Ontario) one time I would hear something in London then Kitchener and it is only one way. Dose anyone know how this freq works?

The frequency you are hearing is 149.440mhz which is the province wide paging frequency for EMS.

Your scanner is set for the wrong band-plan and is rounding the frequency off incorrectly.

Got to fix that. Thanks, but how dose that freq work?

149.440 MHz is just a conventional frequency. It doesn't belong to any trunking system if that's what you are asking.

You will hear various ambulances getting called out.

IE" 2264 Code 4 to your vehicle, Jackson & Caroline" (Graeme you know the building, lol)

The tones you hear on that frequency set off the various base pagers and pocket pagers to alert the crew when they are out of their vehicle or away from the radio.

Best to set the step size in the 138-174 band to 5kHz; not the default U.S.
12.5kHz in some parts of the band. Otherwise you'll be coming up with all
sorts of other funny frequencies.
