I am hearing something in a foreign language (possibly Spanish) on this frequency. What could it possibly be? Sounds like it could be some sort of talk radio.

Thanks for any kind of help.

Also getting English language on 1750/1751 am. British accents.

You did not indicate the receiver you are using, but it definitely sounds like you are getting an image from shortwave. For clue is that in our AM broadcast band in ITU region 2 we use 10 kHz spacing.

This defect of receiving SWBC stations in the AM broadcast band is pretty common with lower end receiver. I have an AM-FM clock radio next to the bed that does this. The infamous C Crane Plus Radio pushed by the late night Coast2Coast crowd is notorious for this defect.

Yep, there's your problem. The SW receiver scheme on all of the under $200 portables are el~cheapos and have poor selectivity and sensitivity. Ya git what yer pay fer.

I did the same thing back in 1976 when my neighbor gave me a Hallicrafters S-40b receiver. I was picking up Radio Moscow on the AM broadcast band and was thinking "WOW ... what a radio!!".

Now that the Winter has set in, medium wave DX should be at its best. American and Canadian are both at 10 KHz separation. You can (with a decent antenna) begin to get Cuba and European stations aw well. This is on a decent receiver ( HQ 180AC and Icom R75).
