• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I'm doing an intall in my K2500. While yes, this is an older truck, I've done alot of work to it and it's in great shape interior, exterior and mechanically, so to me, it's my baby. I've dumped a ton of money into it and to be honest, my wife actually asled me why I didn 't just buy a new truck. Anyway, I am doing an install of a pro 163 mobile, glass mount antenna, Laptop mount, plus GPS, and will soon be installing a dual band Ham rig as well as a mount for my pro 106. I also just bought new chevy seat covers as well as heavy duty chevy floor mats. I plan on spending quite a few hours in the truck monitoring and buffing fire calls. As a retired paramedic, I know not to get in the way at scenes. I also want to have an area to house my camera equipment in the truck too. The reason there aren't any pics is because I won't have my hot little hands on the rest of my gear till xmas morning. That plus I've thought things out well, but I want to get opinions from some people here as to any ideas you all may have as to mounting locations, etc. So any ideas folks? either post here or hit my email at joetnymedic@aol.com. Thanks in advance

so I installed the Pro-163. Nice clean install. I also bought a VX7RB which will be going in a windshield mount I had. I also already have the GPS mounted. working on getting the laptop mount in which has proved to be a PITA due to the fact it was designed for vehicles with a floor mat and not a rug like mine, which is fine, just need longer self tapping bolts. Should be in by next monday. Still looking at a mobile dual bander in the near future. Will have pics up soon.
