Put a ICOM V8000 for ham / monitoring use in my Volkswagen Passat. I had a hard time finding a decent location for mounting, so I eventually chose the side of the center console. The hard wiring is thru the cigarette adapters in the bed of the trunk.... just disconnected the lines leading ot the cigarette adapter and hooked them into the radio, then ran the power lines and antenna lines under the carpet to the front of the car. Works really well.
