• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Oh for a column-shift truck! Nice job! Good to see someone else has an unhealthy obsession with switches and lights :-D

They just dont exist over here in Blighty, so in my Hilux I fitted a home made roof console. It does get heavily used offroad, so antennas are cheap 'springers' as they are forever getting whacked by branches etc.

I wanted to do the same thing to my Ranger but never had the chance. A lady came off the highway and ran into the back of my truck, pushing it through the wall. It was a total.

Aweasome Job MAN I love it. Love the computer fan controller idea. Only thing I may have differnt is build it out of aluminum. If you have access to it. Nothing wrong with ur way. It would have been a lighter and stronger. Especially if you ever in an accident that wood coould break and there goes ur expensive gear airborne. Just a thought. Good Idea on the template first tool that a must when building councils.

Im back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey all,

im trully sorry that i went missing for a while, considering the path i have traveled in the last few months its been a busy one ! Police Foundations was a final score of 92.7% ! so that was good and now off to better things ! ill let you all in when the time comes !

my email has been changed, from the yahoo to the gmail ! so im sorry if anyone had emailed me and didnt get a reply !

well the center Console is doing great ! i have removed a few things from the truck light wise and another fan controller that pooped, but on the brighter side if rigs are getting hot just turn your cold air on and direct it into the radio area, trully i have never had a heat problem.....

from the last post light bars have been in and out , wigwags in and now out new cb antennas etc .... inverter gone, i feel like i got robbed or jacked ! LOL

BUT THE NEW ADDITIONS IS .....

cf-28 with a dock, so ill be doing pictures of this soon !

hope you all are doing well and i hope to recontact with you soon !

well after posting up my last post, i went to the truck to look into the reason that im blowing one fuse all the time, well i now sit here after removing the entire console, wires and wires and wires were cut reinstalled and fix as a reason of putting new things in and taking things out to sell, so it left me with WOW what a mess of open wires not knowing where they go or what they do, so i called the girlfriend and asked her if she was working sunday she was like oh ho what you doing, so after a little talking she working so the removal of the console started, and now its time to rewire a few things as i would like to see them, as its been a while th thing has been in the truck and i need to make room for the new laptop install so i need to prep and clean a few things, it will be good....

so ill try to take a few pictures along the way, not much different from the before pictures but just a mess now... im going to make the switches do a few diff things, like for my blue-tooth HF-870 put that on a switch so i dont have to fool with the settings on the phone, just click and its off... so ill update with a list of what i can do when its finished ! look foward to posting,,

question can we load pictures in the post or do we still have to load and do the stupid photo-bucket thing ?

I am doing something very similar for 3 radios in my '07 F-150, except it won't extend beyond the front of the seat as I have a stationary fold up console/3rd seat (almost like a bench seat configuration).

I like the idea of contouring the dash at the top so I am redoing my template a little to add that in. It also appears mine has a few more degrees of slope to it. I am not doing fans, but I am going to be integrating my speakers into the side of it facing the drivers side.

And before the questions are asked, yes I will posting pics and yes I drilled for antennas.

as i sit donw to do shift notes a cant help but post up a few things.

lets see if i remember them all,

Line X cost me $25.00 ( friend ) so not sure what they would charge for the average person, but i tell ya i brought it to him all ready to go, no need for him to prep and tape any thing, he put it on a stool shot it with line x and 45 seconds later it was back in my hands.. no kidding that fast.

im not sure if i would personally go with more slope, its all preference i guess but i could not have asked for more in that area, ill would tell you if i thought that it could use another degree or not but im very happy with that.

yes i like the idea of painting the grills black, ill try that ! thanks.

i did take a few more pictures but i just hate the whole photo bucket thing.. ill get to it...

oh the jeep question, i had a YJ, 35's 3 body and 4 spring with a spring over, i loved the off roading, besides the case after case after case of U-Joints ! lol great memories ! but i had a Tuffy i think steel center console, it was nice, locking arm rest, and a locking front angled radio section with two yes two cup holders.... i was hard on my Joop Joop, ( i think only jeep guys know about the Joop thing ) lol so i needed a console that would stand up to the crap i put it though !

the aluminum question, naa preference again, i dont want to look like some 8 second drag car full of radios, plus i like the curves, which im sure is hard to see in the pictures, im not a clean cut console guy !

and switches, lol love them, switches and relays are on my Christmas list ! lol i relay relays ! lol a relay is the best thing that i learnt about a few years ago, ohghh ya the jeep days, 4 fog lights on the front custom bull bar, 2 fog lights on the windshield, 4 fog-lights on the roof bar and 2 fog-lights on the inside roll bar facing back and 2 flood lights under the jeep for that late night crawlin ! so yes relay relay relay ! so 14 lights and if i remember correct everything was 100W so do the math, and YES we 4 wheeled at night with everything lit up ! it was kinda a waste 4 wheelin at night cause 8 of us all lit up it was like frikin day time out ! lol Cops knew where we were at all times... u can see me but u cant catch me ! lol sry if your still reading this i got a little off track there... ok back to the console

i like control of my toys so the switch plate was a must, and with just a few screws i can pull the radio plate off and cut new holes, or change wires, same as the switch plate..

but the computer connector was a mint idea ! i must say ! hard work to get it to where i wanted it but great now !

really glad to have you back smqkeman, you inspired me, in part, to build my own, based in part on yours. I had been planning on making a console for a while, and your ideas helped me construct mine. Its all done now, over a year in the making, ill put pics up in the right place sometime and post a link here
can't wait to see new pics of yours!!

I should do something like this for my '96 Grand Cherokee. The difference is, I have to work around a floor shifter, and parking brake handle....

I don't mind covering the parking brake. I would just have to come up with a trap door to open for the yearly vehicle inspection.
