• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

So I've been forced out of my 2001 Crown Vic and into a 2006 Ford Taurus. A LOT less space to work with. I'm looking for a console that will go between the bench seat and the lower dash (the car has 40/20/40 seats, I don't plan on ever folding out the middle 20 seat once I get a console installed). I need it to look good, none of that Gall's $40 swiss cheese vertical crap. I have 3 radios to install, and I'm going to have to figure something else out for the siren and light switches, I'm positive I can't get all of that crammed into one center console with the space I have.

Any ideas, comments, suggestions, pictures, thoughts, hints or just about anything...I need some help. I have calls into Troy Products and Jotto Desk...just waiting for a response.

Haha, oh yea, and I also have to install a computer. Perhaps a bigger alternator??? Looks like this might turn out to be a big job.

Here's something I sorta had in mind:

The scanner is a Pro-2096 and the UHF and VHF radios are Kenwood 760g and 860g.

Umm.... if I'm not mistaken, the Ford Taurus's shifter is floor mounted, not on the column.

I think you'll have a problem with the configuration you want due to the shifter.

Correct, this car is a column mounted shifter, not a center shift. I'd be really screwed for space if that were the case!!

Nick from Indiana has a good setup in his Taurus, I pretty much want to replicate it but I'm going to have this car for a long time hopefully and would like a slightly better console with fitting face plates.

Check out this place: "http://www.havisshields.com/havis_catalog/havis_catalog.html" They make quite a selection of equipment for this type of thing and looks like they have consoles for the Taurus! I will forewarn you though, the webpage is not the easiest to navigate. Good luck and when you get the install done, make sure you share pics of the finished product!

Thanks, I actually email them because I couldn't really find anything specifically for the Taurus. I have to imagine there has to be somewhere that sells a console for the Taurus, a lot of departments use them for CID and administrative, etc. I'm hoping a 9" console would work, and Jotto Desk has a really good laptop mount solution that might work well with the whole setup.

I think I'm closer to answering my own question here. I just found the Troy Products CC-C04, it looks near perfect for my application. Someone also suggested using Havis Shield plates rather than the Troy plates because they will get the radios to fit closer together, providing more space for more radios (some modification will be required).
For anyone with this same problem, the Troy CC-C04 runs anywhere from $210-300 depending on the dealer.

Console ordered today, and I just finished taking all of my equipment out of my Crown Vic. :sigh:, I'm gonna miss the CV.
