Johnson County, MO/Warrensburg is getting closer to "going live", according to one of my FD contacts. Their shop gave an original estimated time frame of completion for February or March. They're wrapping up training, and the new estimation is late April or early May. My contact said there wouldn't be much, if any, encryption on the fire side. He doesn't know what law enforcement plans to do.

According to the Facebook post a few weeks ago by Johnson County central dispatch, the switch to MARRS has already happened.

Yeah, I saw that. Fire District #2 out towards Holden and Kingsville are still rocking their older radios, according to my contact. Maybe a slow rollout thing...who knows?

They switched over on 25 Mar according to their Facebook page. Everything except fire and ems is encrypted. I've only found 3 unencrypted TGIDs. Also, everything in Pettis is supposed to be DMR but I haven't been able to pick up anything.

I can receive EMS and Fire using TGID of a Wildcard

I'm playing catch up here so bear with me. I have an SDS100 and as I understand things as they are now, the police departments in Johnson Co KS went to full encryption in Nov 2024 and still cannot be decoded by scanner. I read that a firmware update from Uniden would be needed to their scanners to do P25 phase 2. Am I up to speed or off in left field somewhere? Any feedback appreciated. Thanks

Most, if not all, law enforcement agencies are now fully encrypted. Lee's Summit and Excelsior are the only ones operating in Phase II (you can still hear Excelsior Fire on the KCMO site in Phase I; PD is mostly encrypted). There are a lot of upgrades coming to the system soon, according to MARC (I'll have to find the meeting minutes). I suspect that the entire system will be switched to Phase II during that time.

I can receive MOHP out of Lee’s Summit using a Scanner app. The source says they use an SDS100 program for Warrensburg. I haven’t been able to receive them with my SDS100

I may keep the SDS100 - or I may trade up to the larger SDS200, BUT it's unfortunate to spend what we do on these and not be able to get everything in our areas. I guess I understand the police going to the fancy encryption, but that was my primary reason for getting the scanner -- to hear what is going on in my immediate area.

I guess if something really major happens, both the country sheriffs and the highway patrol will be involved -- and I can still get those channels. For now.

I have an SDS 100 but don’t hear HP or police. I do hear HP on the BC 996P2, also EMS and fire, but no other police

I hear more HP using the Scanner App for my phone
