Had some activity on 258.450 w/ Animal 22 calling Midway. The Pacific satcom is certainly more productive to monitor legit comms without the Brazilians yacking away.

Good catch Brandon!!! I have only been monitoring UHF Satcom for about a month now and all I get on these birds are these Brazilian morons.

They have totally taken over these satellites! It is like satellite CB radio. Some of these Brazilian pirates even have echo boxes hooked up. And its not just limited to 255.550 Im getting them on about two dozen transponders on Fltsat/UFO and Skynet.

Today I was listing to recordings of Space Shuttle support crews trying to communicate on 261.575 over the pirates who were seemingly trying to jam the freq they were using to communicate on.Truly Unbelievable!!!!

Yeah the pirates totally piss me off as well. Because of these clowns, I typically only plug in a few frequencies to scan at the same time on CONUS, otherwise it's almost impossible to catch anything legit due to the constant blabbing from these morons.

Another hit today on the Pacific bird freq 263.875 w/ station identifying as 032 calling 031. Sounded like an aircraft. Also Mac Center and Deep Freeze Ops have been working Ice 57 on the usual 263.625 freq this evening.

I have only been listening to Satcom since this past summer (2010), so I still consider myself a n00b as well. It's definitely not for everyone and requires a bit a patience. But at least with computers we can utilize ProScan to do unattended logging/recording of traffic.

Too bad none of us are in range for the Indian Ocean. I bet that is an interesting area to monitor :)

Yep that is my website. I upload some clips for things like satcom and HF utility stations.
