Curious - and it's 348 KHZ, not MHZ?

There are numerous aircraft beacons in this band; the Longwave Club of America has quite comprehensive listings and knowledge of this stuff. Not scanning related, and it gets WAY down in the basement, as far as radio goes.

Somebody may have setup a pirate beacon. Those often use a board that produces a single letter. It wouldn't be a pirate if they're within the micro power limit, but those are very hard to hear.

Yes, it's the DEANA beacon on 350 KHz. These are Airnav beacons and not some pirate beacons. This particular one is used for Approaches to O'Hare airport and is located in Medinah/Itasca right by the 290/355 split.

There's a few others in the Chicago area too for Midway and O'Hare although I forget where they are on the band.
