just as an FYI, there are a few threads in the VA regional forum on these. I'm guessing due to the amount of these systems in the Northern VA/DC/MD area they are probably in other places in the country.

I have not heard any here in N.C yet. I have caught short transmissons here and there in the 381-387Mhz range. Some P25 stuff other stuff analog , most sounds like covert fed stuff and some skip from a Marine base.

from what I can tell, the ones around here may have the ability or are linked to others in the area. there is a strange one someone found around here in VA, but the name on the control channel displays "Los Angeles Control". either it was misconfigured or there's something else going on.

Actually it's "Los Angeles Util";) But guess what? I found another control channel/system displaying the same ID. I'll post about that and some other findings in the VA forum later today.

There are a couple 380 MHz P25 control channels in SoCal.
386.0625 and 386.375... there were a couple threads in the California forum about it. So far they are in site trunking mode and no activity.

I think I found a few more as well. I'll see if it's in the database and/or on your spreadsheet. I'll post what I find later in the VA forum as well.

do you think in time they will have the ability to link all of these together in some way?

you may want to check out the VA forum and I think I posted some on the WV forum a while back. there may be some common info on all of them. there was a lot of activity yesterday on one. my girlfriend, who was in the military, said it sounded like war games.

I think they already are linked. I imagine that's part of the whole IP/computer controlled deal and it allows them to use whatever systems/transmitters they want when needed. Otherwise we'd be able to hear any of these hundreds of talkgroups on just one system all the time.

We have a 380 P25 system right here in New York City at Fort Hamilton, a mere 6 by 6 block military base in the heart of a residential neighborhood. Most activity are MP and some administration stuff. I was surprised they actually build a P25 system for such a small base!

The NCR (National Capital Region) include a lot of bases well outside the DC area.

If anything were to happen, that sleepy base probably would get pretty busy.

Much of those systems were set up for peak activity during an acute situation, not for everyday stuff.

that's what happened to one I can receive at work. month after month, I would only hear radio techs a few times per week. then, this week it was nuts. I think I was hearing training or war games.

Just put up a new antenna and thought I would see what I could find. So far this is the only new CC in my area. I see where the freq is listed as a CC in CA too. Not sure of the exact location.

huh... California doesn't have any 380MHz with a System ID of 005.

We need more detailed information on the control channel you are hearing.

It could be this system ?

Joint National Capital Region (Raven Rock/Site R)
System ID: 005
WACN: 580A0
Joint National Capital Region (Raven Rock/Site R) Trunking System, Raven Rock, Pennsylvania - Scanner Frequencies

Never said CA did, only said it had one listed with that CC
RadioReference.com - Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference Database

No, different CC than Raven Rock.

Guess what? It's gone now. :)
