While entering some frequencies in my scanner the other night I received the message "over limit, press any key". I checked the memory used function and it is showing 89% full. Should it not say 100% since its not letting me program anymore. I have deleted many of the preprogrammed systems when I first got the radio. Pretty much all the systems I have in are all on ID search so there isn't a bunch of talk group IDs programmed, I thought I would never be able to fill it up so soon.
Wondering if anyone else has come across this problem or know anything about it?

Seems like this came up before, but way back, maybe even in 2005. Something that
does affect the memory limit, but may not be readily apparent, I believe, are channels locked out during search (CloseCall or otherwise), and during ID Search scans. If you're scanning a number of your TRS systems in 'search' mode, then I imagine that you are hitting some talkgroups you don't want. If it's a standard city or county system, besides police/fire/ems, you may have parks, water & sewer, & garbabe trucks. Even in ID Search, you can lock those out, & you won't hear them again. If that's happened enough (and I'm just speculating, since at 89% memory, you're getting close to the edge), it may be pushing you to the 'full' indication.
I don't know if this would show up if you connected the scanner to the pc, & then took a peek at the "scanner view", but wouldn't hurt to look. Other than that, maybe someone else has a better explanation.
