Have my new 396 up and running OK. Looking for advise on how to set up OPP properly. My local area works fine but I would like to set up other areas that I travel to. Also not sure how to set up Quick Keys properly. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance...

You can have 100 different systems programmed in that radio
The way i have it is each tower has its own quick key.
So for me chatham kent. I have all the channels for chatham kent only programmed in, and then what ever talk groups i have i split up into the 10 different qick key groups you can have.
So iv got 8 different opp towers in 8 different folders attached to 8 quick keys.
Since i cant get the london tower i dont have that quick key selected.

All the talk groups are the same just the control channel and all them are different for each tower.
If youd like i can send you what list of how i have it set up.
It really helped me when i got my radio it was programed and i read the radios mem and saved it. Now i got the hang of it... Its kinda hard to figure out or was for me anyways before i saw the file

I have the tower that is closest to my area programmed in as a system under one QK (QK 1), and I typically ID search that tower. I have all the other towers that I may need in my travels programmed as separate systems all under the same separate QK (QK 9) and ID search them as well. Each system I have grouped into Group QK. Opp = 1 MOH = 2 MTO = 3 MNR = 4...So if I want to only listen to the OPP, I switch to ID Scan and lockout the other groups...hope this made sense..
