BCD396T/BC996T: 396T Squelch "pop"

A question for those that own a BCD396T, when trunking a P25 system the speaker "pops" when the squelch opens... not always, just when it initially stops on a talkgroup. Other than that the radio seems to work great, it is only on trunking that it does this. All conventional analog works fine, no popping. I used the same file to program it as I did my 396XT's and 996XT, etc, and none of them do this ... just wondered if it was a characteristic of this model, I recently acquired it for my collection.

I own two and cannot say I hear a 'pop'. On occasion I would describe on tg activation maybe a 'tic' sound but not at all every time nor real noticeable. Not sure this will help you, just from my perspective. Take care...

If the talkgroups are digital, try setting the Audio Type for each talkgroup to Digital Only instead of Any.

on mine. i could hear a little tic when the units talked and not the base stations.
could it be some make the noise and it could be microphone related ?

Lots of people here, including me, have eliminated this with a Ground Loop Isolator.

@Craigmoe yes, "tic" is a more accurate description... must be the "nature of the beast" with this model.

This is on the internal speaker of the scanner, running on batteries...

I seem to remember mine did that. In conversing with UPMan he said it was the audio amp. I sent it in and got it repaired and it was fine after that. But that was as many, many years ago.
