396t volume knob problems

I have a 396t and the volume/multifunction knob is starting to give me trouble. Its been doing it for it for a while. At first it was like it was skipping through the selections or wouldn't go to the next selection without turning it a few clicks. Now it is barely working, I have to try to wiggle it to a certain position to turn up the volume and it jumps around. Does anyone else have problems like this and whats the easiest way to fix it. Does it have to be sent back to Uniden for repair or are there other places to get this fixed in a hurry.

Hi, It sounds like the encoder for the knob has severely degraded. You could call Uniden to see if you can order a new encoder to replace it or send it in for repair for a flat $50 repair fee.
